Biography

Professor Mitchell-Koch carried out undergraduate research in the laboratories of Professor Ward Thompson and Professor Andy Borovik while earning her B.S. degree in chemistry at KU.  Following her master’s studies at the University of Michigan, she returned to KU and completed her Ph.D. in the laboratory of Professor Thompson.  In 2008 she accepted a lecturer position at Emporia State University and moved to Wichita State University as an Assistant Professor in 2012.  She was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2019.  Professor Mitchell-Koch is a computational chemist with research interest spanning protein structure and dynamics, organometallic catalysis, and enzymatic mechanisms.  While at KU, she was awarded the Higuchi Doctoral Progress Award, which is our top honor recognizing outstanding Ph.D. research.  At Wichita State University she has received several nominations recognizing excellence in research.
