Abstract:

For many students, the next logical step when graduating with a technical degree is more education or an academic career. A degree in Analytical Chemistry is a problem-solving degree that translates very well to industry. A solid technical background can help accelerate your career in several industrial roles, including some opportunities you have yet to consider. Industry doesn't necessarily mean being a bench chemist. There are many options in an organization's financial, marketing, leadership, and sales side that can leverage your academic knowledge and technical skills.

During this talk, I will share my journey from graduate school to a post-doc to an industry career and some observations and opportunities I have encountered in the last 20 years. I'll also share some unique opportunities I have had in analytical instruments to work with scientists worldwide. My career goal has always been to make science accessible, and I'll give you a short update on how I am doing that.
