James Blakemore promoted to Associate Professor with tenure, fall 2020

Thursday, May 28, 2020

Dr. James Blakemore has been promoted to Associate Professor with tenure which will be effective August 2020 (beginning of fall 2020 semester). Dr. Blakemore joined the Department of Chemistry at the University of Kansas in spring 2016.  His research focuses on the preparation and study of tailored inorganic and organometallic compounds to be used for energy conversion.  In his short tenure at KU, Dr. Blakemore has put together a significant research group which is funded by a DOE Early Career Award and an NSF Track-4 EPSCoR award.  He has 14 publications, has established numerous collaborations and has been invited to talks both nationally and internationally.  Dr. Blakemore takes his role of teaching and mentoring seriously and has taken a significant role in his service to the department, most notably taking a lead on safety in our newest facilty, ISB. Busy as he may be, he always finds time to take a moment to check-in with his colleagues, departmental staff and his research group members.

Congratulations, Associate Professor Blakemore!
