Heather Bergmann named Academic All-District First Team

Heather Bergmann photoKansas University senior thrower Heather Bergmann was named to the Academic All-District First Team by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America, it was announced Thursday. Bergmann was a first-team selection for the third consecutive season.

Bergmann registered a 3.91 grade point average in her senior year as she pursues a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. In addition to being a standout thrower for the Jayhawks, she is a three-time member of the Academic All-Big 12 First Team and was named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic list following both the 2011 and 2012 seasons.

Bergmann, who holds KU’s javelin record, will be throwing in her third NCAA Championships after finishing fifth in the NCAA West Preliminary meet last week.
